Dedicated certification

Accreditated certification of Christmas trees is a relatively new measure in the industry, but several of our growers already offer trees that have been certified.

GLOBALG.A.P. stands for “Good Agricultural Practice” and has become the standard certification label in Christmas tree production. It is not a label that signifies ecology – it simply guarantees good agricultural practice where the focus is on the natural environment and working conditions.

Developed by the industry, for the industry, Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) for plant propagation material is a global standard for the responsible farming of propagation material for plant nurseries. Introduced in 2008 and continuously developed through collaboration with sector stakeholders, the standard covers the entire production process, from environmental conservation and waste management to workers’ health, safety, and welfare. IFA is tried, tested, and trusted around the world – with over 14,500 hectares of plant propagation material production processes certified annually.

By purchasing GLOBALG.A.P.-certified products, you are guaranteed that the grower lives up to specific requirements and is subject to continuous supervision.

Certification is your guarantee that the trees are grown with respect for the environment.

Arbodania A/S is GlobalG.A.P. Chain of Custody (CoC or GGN: 4063061818072) and as such accreditated to supply you GlobalG.A.P. certified Christmas trees from our sistercompany Firma Collet K/S as well as other certified growers.

Chain of Custody (CoC)

CoC certification allows work with supply chain management systems that protect the segregation, identification, and traceability of products originating from GLOBALG.A.P. certified production processes. This way, products produced in line with safe, socially and environmentally responsible farming practices can be connected with a GLOBALG.A.P. claim at the end of the chain – reducing integrity risks, providing reassurance to customers, and adding value to Arbodania trees in the market. CoC is tried, tested, and trusted around the world, with certificate holders operating in over 50 countries.

NaturBaum Seal

With the new seal, the Association of Natural Christmas Trees e.V. is making a clear statement for more climate, nature and occupational safety. Although many of the family businesses that grow Christmas trees already pay attention to the points mentioned, they can now for the first time have themselves checked according to uniform Europe-wide standards and, if successful, award their trees with the independent natural tree seal. In doing so, the companies are responding to the wishes of many customers who demand more transparency and want to make a contribution to climate protection and sustainability with their purchasing decisions.

A total of 23 checkpoints must be implemented to obtain the natural tree seal. The producers undertake to comply with the measures and are regularly checked by independent testing institutions using a standardized catalogue

PEFC for pallets

PEFC is the world’s leading forest-certification system with more than 200 million hectares of certified forests around the world. It is a not-for-profit, international umbrella organisation whose only purpose is to market sustainable forestry through neutral, national third-party certification bodies.

PEFC is active throughout the entire forestry operation, including timber as well as non-timber products from the forest. The focus is on sustainable production with respect for ecological, social and ethical standards.
